Patrick O’Dell writes character-driven urban and dark fantasy rooted in transformation and consequence. He began writing at sixteen and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Biology before realizing that storytelling was what he wanted to spend his life doing. With the support of mentors, including Dr. Ernest Rufleth, Kevin Clouther, and Charlene Donaghy, he earned his MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Nebraska Omaha in 2023.
His debut novel, Gods and Monsters, launches in February 2027 as the first installment of The Godfire Series, an urban fantasy series following Elias Fetch, a supernatural fixer and reluctant detective, as he’s pulled into a spiral of grief, memory, and the true underbelly beneath the surface of Locust Grove, Georgia. Patrick’s work is irreverent and unafraid to sit with difficult themes, blending adventure and dark humor with genuine emotional stakes.
Patrick lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he works as a grant writer for a nonprofit organization. When he isn’t writing, he can usually be found reading, gaming, or spending time with his family.

The Godfire Series
Supernatural detective and problem solver Elias Fetch has thought he’s lived and seen it all. But with grim news that the people of his hometown are dying, he embarks on a transformative journey to return to the small town of Locust Grove, Georgia—a place he thought he’d left in his rearview.

The Godfire Series
Elias Fetch makes a living cleaning up other people’s supernatural messes, yet even he has limits. Fire runs under his skin, but his roommates, a headless Dullahan and his witch of a girlfriend, keep him grounded. Nothing prepares him for Louis, a soft-spoken stranger who arrives with a problem that feels wrong in all the ways Elias has learned to fear. Louis insists something ancient is stirring around him, leaving drained bodies and spiritual ruptures across New Orleans, and he begs Elias to sever the connection before it kills again.

The Godfire Series
Elias Fetch’s power is fading fast. When Somnus, the uncanny ruler of the Dream Realm, appears in his living room in the middle of the night, he’s wary of the unfamiliar god. Somnus’s children, powerful Dream Lords born from his own mistakes, have escaped into the minds of the living, twisting dreams into nightmares and feeding on the innocent. In exchange for restoring Elias’s fading power, Somnus strikes a bargain: Elias must hunt down the wayward creatures before they tear apart both the dreamscape and the waking world.
